Background and journey to Hemfrid
Georgel has always had a passion for service and working with people. At just 17 years old, he started working as a dishwasher alongside his high school studies. That experience marked the beginning of a long career in the restaurant and retail industries. “I’ve always loved working in customer-focused roles,” he shares.

With experience as a team leader and store manager, Georgel has been in leadership positions for many years, making leadership a consistent theme in his career. During the pandemic, as much of life slowed down, he began thinking about his next step. When he came across a job ad for an Area Manager position at Hemfrid, the choice became clear.

“The ad immediately caught my interest—it seemed like a role full of both challenges and variety.” He started in May 2023 and quickly discovered how dynamic the role was. “As an Area Manager, something new is always happening, and the combination of staff and customer responsibilities was incredibly rewarding.”

When the opportunity arose to apply for the role of Operations Manager for the Northern Region, covering Uppsala and Gävle, Georgel was ready for the next step. “I love challenges and growth, so I didn’t hesitate—and I got the role!”

The role of Operations Manager
Georgel describes the role of Operations Manager as both broad and exciting. “It’s a position where you’re responsible for the big picture, from tracking KPIs and managing budgets to addressing staff and customer issues.” Variety is key—no two days are the same. He also participates in forums focused on improving and developing the business, which he considers an important part of his work.

However, it’s leadership that truly drives him. “I love working with people, coaching my team members, and seeing them grow and develop.” For Georgel, leadership is about supporting others and building a strong, engaged team together.
